ZUZU Studio — London

The agency that interrogates the brief before the camera turns on.

ZUZU produces campaign-quality video for premium fitness brands. Not content. Campaign work. The kind that makes the right member aspire before they have set foot through the door — and makes the wrong one feel the gap.

The founding

Luke Carter spent years in film and marketing working with fitness and wellness brands.

The pattern was consistent. The marketing director had a brand with real conviction — a club that genuinely stood for something specific. The production company arrived, took the brief at face value, and delivered technically competent content that could have belonged to any club in the country.

The problem was never the camera work. It was never the crew. It was the brief — specifically, the fact that no one was interrogating it before the camera turned on.

ZUZU was built to change that. To start where most agencies skip: with the question that makes the whole brief worth answering. What does this club stand for that no other club can claim?

What we believe

Five things ZUZU believes about video production that most agencies would not say out loud.

The brief is the creative decision.

Every poor piece of brand video starts with a brief that was too broad. ZUZU’s job begins with the question most agencies skip: what is the one thing this brand can say that no other brand can claim? That question is the brief. Everything that follows is execution.

Desire is the only engine.

Production craft is the how. It comes second, always. Every piece of content ZUZU produces leads with what the right member wants — not with the mechanism that delivers it.

Generic content costs more than good content.

Not on the invoice. Over time. A piece of content that could belong to any fitness brand in the country erodes premium positioning, reduces membership intent, and cannot defend the budget in the next planning meeting. Specific, brand-true content is the cheaper choice.

The marketing director already knows the answer.

ZUZU does not arrive to educate the client on their own brand. We arrive to find the thing they already know about their club that they have never quite found the words for. The Singular Brief is a process of extraction, not instruction.

If the wrong people want in, the content has failed.

Premium brands are not for everyone. The content that makes a Virgin Active feel like Virgin Active actively repels the person for whom a budget gym is the right answer. That repulsion is not a bug. It is the mechanism of desire.

Background

Luke Carter’s background is in film and marketing. Before ZUZU, that meant working inside the category — understanding premium fitness brands from the brief through to the output, and watching the same gap appear with every production partner: technically competent work that was impossible to attribute to a specific brand.

ZUZU was built to close that gap.

Client work includes:

Virgin Active

Campaign-quality video for the UK’s leading premium fitness brand across multiple markets, including Bangkok.

Platform Studios, Dubai

Content that positioned Dubai’s most beloved boutique wellness studio as the category leader. The studio was subsequently acquired in a multi-million dollar transaction.

Bali Time Chamber

Video content for a men’s movement platform built around a specific transformation.

What working with ZUZU actually looks like.

The first conversation is not a pitch. It is a diagnostic. We ask about the brief, the brand, the member, and the gap between where the club is and where it should be.

From there:

The Singular Brief. We push until we find the one thing this club can say that no other club can say. That time is the job — it is where the content is made, before the camera turns on.

Production follows the brief, not the shot list.

Delivery is structured around how assets will actually be used: social cuts, OOH formats, digital variants, CRM versions.

Ongoing partners have a creative relationship, not a production relationship. The brief gets sharper. The onboarding tax disappears.

What ZUZU is for. And what it is not.

ZUZU works with premium fitness, health, and wellness brands. Not every fitness brand — premium ones.

ZUZU is not the right fit for volume briefs. If the problem is “we need 200 posts per month,” we are not the answer. If the problem is that the content looks like everyone else’s, we should talk.

ZUZU does not offer brand strategy, visual identity work, or paid media management. Our brief is the moving image and the copy that surrounds it.

“Working with the team has been so refreshing — they’re so engaged and excited by every brief, and are one of the suppliers we work with who always look at our brand and our briefs a little differently.”

— Katrina Southey, Marketing Director, Virgin Active
